BOGGER LEAVES RIVALS IN HIS DUST IN MCCALMONT DECIDER

Ian Fortune

Liam Peacock had another memorable night at Kilkenny on Friday night as he sent out his professional tracker, Bogger Dusty to emerge a tremendous winner of the 2024 Deadly Kennels McCalmont Cup.

As so often happens in a major final, early speed was the key to success and none could match the son of Droopy Biker and Mustang Swift in that department. Shooting from trap five, Bogger Dusty led in the field into the turn and his task was made somewhat easier when the favourite Bonkersinyonkers and Cheque For Sir clashed.

Bogger Dusty didn’t need a second invite. Quickening into a clear advantage to the third turn, he was never gong to be threatened by those in behind. Predictably, Rathfalla Hero finished strongly but he was too far back to worry the pace-setter.

A COMFORTABLE WINNER

Bogger Dusty emerged a comfortable winner of the €7,000 to the winner decider.

He hit the line with a length to spare in 29.18. Rathfalla Hero ran on well in second, while Cheque For Sir recovered somewhat from his opening bend troubles to take third, some three and a half lengths further adrift.
