LIBBYS DOLLY (Ballymac Best-Libbys Pet) went quickest on the clock in the semi-finals of the Burgess Bucks @ Stud ON2 at Kilcohan Park on Saturday night.
Owned by the Maori Syndicate, the October puppy produced a great start along the inside of the track. A 6-4 shot in the market, the impressive winner set a strong pace heading down the back straight, but she was closely followed by Autumn Alice. Pulling out all the stops up front, Libbys Dolly had all the answers late on, and she beat Autumn Alice, by two and a half lengths, in 28.88. Dark Treasure a further length and a half back in third place.
STRONG RUN
In the opening semi final, Dreamy Lass (Droopys Buick-Dream Believer) scored for trainer Philip Gough and owner Damien Ryan.
Turning third around the opening turns, it was Avongate Prada who was taking them along up front. A 6-4 shot in the betting market, Dreamy Lass started to make her move midway down the back, showing plenty of staying power, she finished strongly to land the spoils. At the line, the October puppy was three lengths clear of Lough Mizen, in 29.25. A head back to Whitewood Luke in third place.
QUICKEST RUN
The quickest run of the night came in the closing race as Its All Over clocked a fantastic 28.49 in the A1 contest.
In the ownership of John and Tomas Leahy, the 7-2 winner was making the most of what looked like a drop in class. Having previously run well at higher level, the son of Laughil Bolt was in midfield early on but he showed massive pace to return to winning ways. Looming large at the second last corner, the strong running winner flew up the home straight to land the spoils in superb fashion. A four length success over Autumn Zara.
