A STRONG LATE DASH FROM TORO IN LEE STRAND FINAL

Barry Drake

Dashing Toro (Droopys Sydney-Ballycowen Lucy) was the star of the show in the Kingdom on Saturday night as the 5-2 winner took gold in the final of the €10,000 to the winner Lee Strand 550. The August puppy had run some big races in the event over the last couple of weeks and the exciting young tracker was best in the feature final, winning for the Twice-A-Day-Everyday-Syndicate. Cheap Sandwiches set a strong early gallop up front and it looked like Unanimouspanther was in prime position heading down the back straight. However, it soon all changed and the eye was drawn to Dashing Toro from about halfway. Pulling out all the stops in the second half of the race, the powerful running winner put on a huge finish to score, beating the early-paced runner up, by a length and a half, in a fantastic, 29.54. (550). All eyes will be on the winner in the coming weeks and months as he looks to have a bright future.
