Ballybreenautumn justified favouritism in the final of the April Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday evening, producing yet another fine display.
John O’Connor and John Somers’ daughter of Ballymac Bolger and Droopys Claire made it three wins on the spin to land the €2,500 prize in comfortable fashion. She didn’t actually set the pace into the turn. Instead, Slaine Chloe went up fastest to lead the field into the back straight but Ballybreenautumn was never far away.
Edging her way up the inside of the pace-setter, she took over into the third turn before easing on. Johnny Dilemma, the second choice in the betting, also challenged into the third turn but had no answer to Ballybreenautumn once she took over at the head of affairs.
Ballybreenautumn raced on to beat Johnny Dilemma by five and a half lengths in 29.06. There is no doubting the winner is very useful and with time could be a top performer. Watch this space.
