DASHING TORO A YOUNGSTER GOING PLACES

Dashing Toro clocked a magnificent 29.47 in the second round of the Lee Strand at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.

Out of luck in the opening round, the 2-1 winner made no mistakes this time around. In the ownership of the Twice-A-Day-Everyday-Syndicate, the August puppy looks like a really exciting youngster after this stunning winning run. After producing a flying start to lead, the most impressive winner opened up on the back straight as he pulled right away from the field. Strong coming home, he came home alone, seven lengths clear of Grouchos Scooby.

Deadly Choice, trained by Michael O'Donovan for Garry Hannon, came from well off the pace to win the sixth heat. The 4-5 favourite isn't the quickest early, but he has huge gears and he recorded two straight wins with another powerful winning effort. He had plenty to do at the opening bends when in fourth, however, he was in front before the final corner and he beat Summerfield Air, who made most, by three lengths, in 29.49.

In the opening heat, Tree Top Steve stayed on well when winning for trainer David Flanagan. In the ownership of Imelda Sinclair, the 6-4 joint favourite was recording back-to-back wins. Mulcair Harry made a lot of the running, but the June youngster was strongest late on, winning by a neck, in 29.83.

Trainer Pat Buckley was on the scoresheet in heat three, Coolavanny Percy winning for owner Kenny Glen. The August puppy, a 5-4 shot in the betting ring, displayed plenty of pace to run down Mrbluewood. A length the margin, in 29.84.

Buckley recorded a double after the brilliant winning display of Unanimouspanther in heat five. In the ownership of Ciaran O'Sullivan, the 4-6 favourite was in the mix early and he took up the running on the back straight. Pulling away late on, he came home with seven lengths to spare over Satelite Monroe, in 29.70.

Heat four went the way of Joes Wink for trainer Ray Fleming and Margaret Lynch. The July puppy was in control early and 2-1 shot delivered a fine front-running display to beat Shimmering Water, by three lengths, in 29.92.
