A big crowd enjoyed some wonderful racing action in the Kingdom on Saturday night. Huge credit must go to the KGOBA and the Clifford family, Ardfert, for the great work and wonderful sponsorship on the night. The Awards took centre stage, but there was a sensational performance on the track as well.
Local trainer Brendan Maunsell enjoyed a night to remember, In Good Time (Droopys Sydney-Peters Queen) delivered a stunning 27.91 track record run in the Hall of Fame Award AA0 525. Called in from the reserves, In Good Time exploded from trap six, posting a rapid 2.98 sectional, as he flew around the opening corners in front. Daleroad Duke, the previous track record holder, was soon within a length, and it was race on heading down the back straight. Owned by the Working-Together, Syndicate, In Good Time was strong in front and he kept finding as he beat the super-talented Daleroad Duke, by two lengths. A masterclass performance from the popular local winner.
Elsewhere on the card, Songa In Grande impressed when winning the Private Trainer of the Year A0 525. Trained by Jack Kennelly for owners The-Swedish-House-Party-Syndicate, the 6-4 joint favourite showed a lovely injection of speed on the opening turns to take up the running. A superb performance, clocking 28.23 and beating Labana Cody, by a length.
It was a fantastic night all round and all races carried additional prize money.
