The opening round of the Elite Black At Stud May Unraced made up the entire card at Enniscorthy on Monday night and a number of promising youngsters were on show including Ballinabola Jake, who set a strong standard in the first of the eight heats.
A well-bred son of Glengar Bale and Ballinabola Evie, the Pat Buckley trained October ’22 whelp was never far off the pace before taking charge at the third turn. From there he eased clear to win by seven lengths in a rapid 28.95. The early pace-setter Fairly Giddy was second.
NEWS WINS WELL
Next fastest was Ashwood News as he made all for John and Patrick Doyle in Heat 5 to come home clear of Rathnew Duchess. The son of Good News and Mustang Markle emerged five lengths clear in 29.11.
LISTEN DOMINATES
Listen Here Ok won Heat 2 in similar fashion. The Pauric Kelly trained son of Burgess Bucks and Droopys Essie never saw another rival as he ran out a four-length scorer over Zaconey Adonis in 29.16.
ROANNA IS SHARP
Roanna Sharp improved on qualifying form to win in 29.19 for Robbie O’Neill and Adrian Maher. The daughter of Pestana and Ballymac Freya emerged a comfortable seven and a half length winner over Apache Robin in 29.19.
MOLLY AND MYSTERY OBLIGE
Alans Molly also posted 29.19, emerging a comfortable winner of Heat 6. Owned by Molly and Katie Goff, the daughter of Allforthebest and Fatboyz Storm finished best of all to beat Whitewood Lexi by five lengths in 29.19.
Mochonog Mystery won the final heat in good style. Owned by Andrew Fitzsimons and Liam Kavanagh, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Tattoo led throughout to see off Millbrook Dancer by five and a half lengths in 29.35.
SKINNY COMES HOME WELL
Mini Skinny, owned by John Simpson and John Kavanagh, stayed on well to win in 29.52. The son of Burgess Bucks and Sovereign shot clear from the third turn to win by six lengths from Downeaton Songni.
JACK OVERCOMES TRAFFIC
Shane Duggan and Anton Butler sent out Blackhall Jack to win in 29.59. Always prominent, the son of Burgess Bucks and Black Moll overcame an early bump to come home four lengths clear of Mikes Bono.
