Back-to-Back Irish Derby winning greyhound trainer and Killenaule native Jennifer O'Donnell Chats To Paul Carroll On Last Friday’s Tipp Fm 'The Sporting Edge' Show.
We hear from Jennifer about how she began her career in training greyhounds and how that prospered into being the trainer for two Derby winners. We gain a close insight into the lifecycle of a greyhound from pup all the way to retirement with Jennifer being by their side every step of the way! We learn about the age progression in the life of a greyhound and also a perception into a greyhound’s personality.
When Jennifer’s dad sadly passed away in 2016, both her and her brother took more of a role in helping the greyhounds at home. Later that year, and she took out a trainer’s licence. After 7 years of training, she finally gained her big win. Born Warrior and The Other Kobe was more of a special win for Jennifer as she had bred them dogs at home and had reared them since they were born. Born Warrior is still at home with them in the lap of luxury, in his retirement. Jennifer outlines the tremendous set-up they have built at home in order to attain the best possible home for their greyhounds, while also in the hope of earning some more wins! She concludes with her hopes for the future and what’s to come for the rest of her year!
