Jim Murphy has been a man in the news for a few years now with so many superstars of the sport carrying his ‘Clonbrien’ prefix.
Indeed, only this year, he added another classic to his tally with his brilliant track Clonbrien Treaty running out a wonderful winner of the Bresbet Easter Cup.
Of course, the son of Pestana also captured last year’s Kirby Memorial and Leger, making him a three-time classic winner, something Clonbrien Hero also achieved a few years back. Add in the likes of Clonbrien Prince and many more and Jim has had plenty to celebrate.
But one celebration caught him off guard on Saturday as he was the guest of honour at his own surprise birthday party at Limerick. While we don’t know exactly what age he turned, we do know it was a ‘special’ birthday. Whether he is nursing a hangover or not on this Sunday morning, we know he will be tuning into the action from Towcester this afternoon as Clonbrien Treaty is in action.
But whether the dog wins or loses, it is a special weekend for one of the nicest men in the sport and so on behalf of us all, a very happy birthday Jim.
