Youghal track has a habit of producing nice sorts and Gwan Kiddo (Good News-Kiltymon Pearl) rates an exciting talent after the October puppy delivered a classy 29.23 winning performance on debut in Youghal on Wednesday night.
Well-supported in the betting market, the even-money favourite flew from traps and he powered around the opening corners in front. Showing massive early speed, he was flying down the back straight, with Burgess Tune and Druids Annie also showing pace in behind. Just doing enough in the closing stages, the big early pacer held Burgess Tune, who also ran a cracker in second, by a length, in 29.23, which was quickest on the night. A most impressive winning performance for owners Keith O'Leary and Gregg Fitzgerald.
In the seventh, Bartlemy Lee returned to winning ways for the Chester-Pool-Syndicate. He looked a nice sort around Cork early on and the recent Curraheen Park sales purchase returned to top form here, clocking 29.45 and coming home six and a half lengths clear of Dower Dixie.
