TIGER HOLDS FALCO IN ISLANDBRIDGE HEAT

TIGER HOLDS FALCO IN ISLANDBRIDGE HEAT

Ian Fortune

What a difference a week can make? Just seven days after the voided contest that saw the re-run of the opening heart of the Islandbridge Open Sprint, Robbies Tiger completely left his most recent woes behind him.

Shae Campbell’s son of Droopys Sydney and Hello Laura was worst affected by the malfunctioning start last week, stumbling badly at traps to finish well behind. Thankfully, for his connections, he made his second chance count, showing fine early speed to chase Gumption into the turn before leading on the run in.

He still had work to do, however. Romeo Falco may not have been fastest into stride but he flew up the home straight to force the judge into action. Robbies Tiger got the verdict by a short head in 18.92. Gumption was just three parts of a length away in third.

BISTO LOOKS SMOOTH

There were a couple of fine runs on the undercard also. The opening round of the Retired Greyhound Trust ON2 saw Bisto Kid make a big impression. John Kennedy’s impeccably well bred son of Droopys Sydney and Billys Diva shot from traps to make every inch.

At the line he had nine lengths to spare in a rapid 28.61. He is clearly a very nice type, although he won’t get his chance to shine in the second round as he was disqualified for finding a little too much time on previous form. I’m sure connections aren’t too worried.

The other heats saw Val Tashadelek win for Neilus O’Connell and Thomas Lynch in 29.15, while Max Pro won for Danny Kehoe in 29.10.

DILEMMA FASTEST

Fastest on the night was Dark Dilemma as he got loose early in the A2 seventh race to record a rapid 28.51. Trained by David Murray or Alan Devine, the son of Droopys Sydney and Jet Ski Queen came home eleven lengths to the good over Coss Summer in 28.51.

EMER A REAL EYE-CATCHER

Perhaps the most eye-catching winner of the night was Highview Emer as she displayed all sorts of pace to come home a mile clear in her semi-final of the Talking Dogs Non-winner A4 525. Only fourth into the turn, she was in a league of her own from the second turn, charging into the lead well before the third turn and easing right away to score by thirteen lengths in 28.63.

The other heat saw Mark Robinson’s Uncle Frankie (Ballymac Cashout/ Dark Ava) slip loose to contain Coss Cashout by a half length in 29.00.
