TREBLE FOR GRANDFATHER AND GRANDSON OPERATION

TREBLE FOR GRANDFATHER AND GRANDSON OPERATION

Barry Drake

The kennels of Andy Lynch enjoyed a night to remember in Youghal on Wednesday night as the Cappoquin outfit recorded a fantastic treble. Handled by his grandson, Tim Cliffe, all three winners displayed stunning early speed and in the process, posted magnificent all-the-way winning runs.

Rankin Exile was the quickest of the three when winning the tenth, an A3, in 29.17. It looked like a red contest on paper, but the 2-1 winner clocked sizzling early sectionals and he just held on to beat Summoned, by a length, in a really smart, 29.17.

In the previous race, Shes An Exile, a member of a really smart early-paced litter, impressed when making all the running in the A7-A8 contest. The November puppy flew clear early and in truth, it was all one-way traffic up front. A wonderful front running display, clocking 29.43 and coming home clear of the field.

This Exile, a litter brother to Shes An Exile, put his big early speed to good use when winning the third, an A7, in 29.74. The 3-1 shot showed huge speed down into the third corner and in the end, he held the fast-finishing Witches Del, by a length.

Elsewhere, Inniskeen Penny is almost unbeatable around Youghal track in recent times and the well-backed 4-5 favourite delivered arguably one of her greatest performances around the seaside venue in the closing race. Trained by Jake Faul for Sean Faul, she flew from traps to sail around the opening corners in front, showing real pace throughout, the classy performer delivered another high-class display, beating Burgess Orlaith, by three lengths, in 28.98. A 16th career victory and that's nine wins from her last 10 around the seaside venue.
