It goes without saying that thousands of students provided an incredible atmosphere at Shelbourne Park on Thursday evening.
It was clear that lessons were learnt from last year’s first student night and everything went off without a hitch.
Rarely have greyhounds racing in A4 and A5 company been greeted by such a wall of noise but it was clear that all those on site enjoyed the occasion, witnessing our canine athletes in action and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience that will hopefully bring them back in the future.
RAZ IMPRESSES IN UNRACED FINAL
There was also some tremendous racing in the second half of the card to enthrall those present.
The undoubted feature was the final of the Barking Buzz App ON2/ON3 and the exciting Ardnasool Raz (Grangeview Ten/ Farloe Maverick) again ran out an impressive winner, showing his superb early speed to dictate from the outset.
He was pressed hard by the equally exciting Merits Inclusion, although the latter again displayed real signs of greenness. Ardnasool Raz, owned jointly by Cathal McGhee and Kian McGettigan, held his rival into the third turn before staying on well to emerge a mighty impressive three and a half length winner over his rival in 28.68. Have no doubt, both the winner and runner-up will go onto bigger and better things in the future.
