There was a good finish to the final of the Michael Donohoe Memorial at Enniscorthy on Thursday evening with Inian Kitty showing great tenacity to reel in the long-time leader Sunfire Speed to land the €2,000 prize.
Indian Kitty needed to do things right in the opening yards to turn close to the pace. That wasn’t an issue for Pat and Gareth Whelan’s daughter of Ravenswood Hugo and Droopys Elite. Flying from the outside box, she was on the outside of three runners into the turn before slipping around second to Sunfire Speedy.
The latter seemed destined to go onto score thereafter but Indian Kitty really dug in at the business end and struck the front on the run in for a three parts of a length victory in 29.01. Kates Hill was another our lengths back in third.
