MINSK FOLLOWS IN MOTHER’S FOOTSTEPS

Given her pedigree, it’s perhaps no surprise to see Meenagh Minsk turning into a very promising youngster.

On Thursday night, she captured the valuable Upcoming IGOBF National Puppy ON2 525, holding off the persistent challenge of Highiew Aurora.

Razldazl Edward was the odds on favourite from three but a slow start and early crowding would ultimately end his chances. In contrast, Meenagh Minsk was razor-sharp at boxes, leading from the opening yards.

A daughter of Broadstrand Bono and 2020 Cesarewitch winner and Derby runner-up Meenagh Miracle, she was quickly put under pressure by Highview Aurora. The latter turned on the heels of the pace-setter but moved upsides into the third turn.

However, Meenagh Minsk retained the inside line and she moved on again between the two bends to lead by three parts of a length into the turn. Highview Aurora continued to press but Meenagh Minsk was to emerge a brave and deserving winner for Michael Corr and Josie Burns. She would take the verdict by a half length in 28.68 from Highview Aurora, while Highview Daniel ran on well to finish just a length and a half adrift in third.

CHICA OBLIGES IN REGULAR’S FINAL

The final of the Thursday Nights Are Back A3 Regulars saw hot favourite Ravenswood Chica score for Anna and Gerry Barber.

Not as fast into stride as normal, she displayed fine early speed to get to the front on the bend.

Lolos Badger was immediately in chase but was always struggling to threaten the pace-setter. Zaconey Lyla actually finishing fastest to come through for second but Ravenswood Chica was not for catching. The daughter of Laughil Blake and Ravenswood May went on to win by a length in 28.84.
