Ian Fortune
It was a case of copy and paste for Droopys Map in the final of the Sporting Press Mini Open 525 at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night as he replicated his semi-final success to come home clear in the €3,000 to the winner contest.
On a night when his full sister from a repeat mating Droopys Kathleen returned to winning ways, Martin Costigan’s Droopys Map did everything right. Breaking smartly from four, the son of Droopy Syndey and Droopy Dancer would dictate around the opening two bends before repelling the late challenge of Kilcolgan Whitney.
The Murt Leahy trained Droopys Map would stay on well to hold off his rival by a length and a half in 28.54.
MAGGOT TOO HOT TO HANDLE
Actindamaggot was doing anything but in the final of the Barking Buzz A2 decider earlier on the card. Trained by Ian Reilly for Caoimhe Ivory, the son of Ballymac Cashout and Slippery Diva would dictate throughout after a slick exit.
Pressed for much of the way by Hackney Castle, Actindamaggot would kick on from the final turn to eventually cross the line five lengths to the good in 28.76.
BIG DEBUT RUN ROM SAM
There was a notable debut from Donishall Sam in the second race as he shot clear to beat Curtin Call by six and a half lengths in 28.50.
The Graham Holland trained son of Ballymac Bolger and Doolin Girls knew his job and looked a real prospect for his owner Michael Young as he dominated throughout.
