The greyhound industry has lost another great personality in recent days with the news of the death of Liam Dwan, Glenbane, Holycross, Co. Tipperary.
A fantastic owner, trainer and breeder, Liam is responsible for the famed ‘Boherna’ prefix and many a champion has graced his kennels over the years. A very popular individual, Liam was also a staunch supporter of his local track in Thurles, so much so he rarely missing a night’s racing. Liam will be fondly remembered as one of life’s true gentlemen by all involved in the Irish greyhound racing industry and condolences are passed on to his Family and friends at this sad time.
Liam Dwan, Glenbane, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Died 13th October 2025, peacefully surrounded by his family, in the care of St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. Predeceased by his parents Rody and Bridget, brother Rodgie and his wife Eileen, sister Mai and her husband Francis. Forever remembered and sadly missed by his wife Norah (née Spillane), sons and daughters Paddy, Stephen, Breda, Billy, Siobhan, David, Anne, Marie and Frankie, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors’ and a wide circle of friends.
Reposing in Hugh Ryan's Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Tuesday 14th October from 5pm to 7pm. Arriving at Holycross Abbey on Wednesday 15th October at 11am for Requiem Mass at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
