BIG PERFORMANCES AT CURRAHEEN PARK AS THE LAURELS GETS UNDERWAY NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT

Mallogs Calvin (Laughil Blake-Emers Velvet) made it three straight wins in the final of the €1,200 to the winner Jack, Mary & Brian Finn Memorial Stake at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

Owned and trained by Sean Drohan, he was sent off at odds of 2-1 and once again he showed impressive early dash as he sailed around the opening corners in front. Showing a nice turn of pace to slip a few lengths clear into the second last corner, the early paced winner was then all out to hold the fast-finishing Timmys Rover, by three quarters of a length, in 28.85.

KING IS A REAL STAR

Carefree King made a magnificent return to racing action in the closing race when winning the AA0 for Bernadette Connolly.

After clocking 28.32 around Clonmel earlier in the year, he looked like a real star, but he's clearly had his issues. Showing massive all-round pace, the 2-1 shot clocked a sensational 28.29 to win in style. When you consider it was his first competitive start since early June, one would imagine he could develop into a serious Laurels contender.

IN OTHER RACES

In race seven, Brogan Highway powered home to win for John and Marguerite O'Donoghue.

The 4-1 winner clocked 28.36 in the A1, as he beat Cabra Kronk, by a short head.

In the following race, Jaytee Wexford ran out an impressive winner of the A0, winning in 28.52 for owner John Turner and trainer Paul Hennessy.

In race 10, Millridge Jayden impressed with another fine winning performance for Donal O'Mahony. The 5-4 market leader landed the A2, in 28.49, a length clear of Seefin Mist.

It was all one-way traffic in race 11, as Aughrim Melody confirmed her recent winning form with another superb display for owner Richie O'Brien and trainer Pat Kiely.

The 5-4 favourite beat Ballincarriga, by six and a half lengths, in 28.57. (A1).
