INDUSTRY UPDATE : DEXAMETHASONE & CATEGORY 2 MEAT

In early October 2022, details of the decision to implement new screening limits for the medicine Dexamethasone were published on Talking Dogs and in race programmes. Following on from additional stakeholder engagement, the Board of RCE have taken the decision to extend the period of transition to the implementation of the new screening limits.
This decision is to facilitate additional engagement; to allow greyhound owners explore all avenues of replacement of category 2 meat within the racing dog cohort and to facilitate an opportunity to educate the racing owners as to the reasons why the decision to reduce the screening limits was taken.
The period of transition has been extended to November 1st 2023, after this date the screening limits will be reduced to the levels published earlier this month.
