ANOTHER SENSATIONAL PERFORMANCE EXPECTED FROM CARRICK ALDO IN THE LAURELS

Curraheen Park plays host to a fantastic 12-race card tonight featuring round two of the €30,000 to the winner Bar One Racing Irish Greyhound Laurels at Curraheen Park.

In association with the Friends & Supporters of Cork Greyhound Racing, the event got off to a great start last week and a huge crowd enjoyed an outstanding night of top class racing action.

LEADING PLAYER FOR OUTRIGHT GLORY 

Carrick Aldo, a winner of the Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup at Dundalk recently, was one of the many stars in the opening round and the David Murray trained runner can make it back to back winning performances at the Cork venue by landing race eight.

The selection didn't produce his quickest start last time, but he displayed massive gears to land the spoils, 28.15. It was a performance of the highest ever and with a sharp exit in this, he should go on to score.

The Matthew Harte trained Halo, a 28.15 winner last week, will have his supporters, but he will need to be paw perfect to clear his inside runners and win the all important early lead. The Graham Holland trained Faypoint Jet is another that can go well from the inside of the track.

SWORDS REX CAN BOUNCE BACK TO WINNING WAYS

One of the leading fancies for outright glory, the Graham Holland trained Swords Rex can bounce back to winning ways by scoring in race seven.

Things didn't go to plan last week, but he still showed plenty of pace in defeat and he should prove a class apart in race number seven. With a quick start expected from trap two, Swords Rex should be in front early and that should be the winning of the race. Millridge Byrce, for the Donal O'Mahony team, caught the eye in defeat last week and the powerful performer could be returning to something near his best form. He's the obvious danger to the selection.

EARLY DASH 

In the closing heat, Droopys Beglin, trained by John Linehan for owner Barry O'Driscoll, has the early dash to make all the running from the inside of the track.

That was a big performance in defeat last week, leading for most of the way and in the end finishing a great second to Glengar Martha, only beaten a length, in 28.13. A reproduction of that should be good enough to see him return to winning ways for local connections.

IN OTHER RACES

In race 10, Burgess Supreme, a winner of the National Produce Stakes in Clonmel earlier this year, gets the nod for JJ Fennelly and Sheila Spillane. Improvement is expected on last week's return to racing action and the fast starting selection can dominate from start to finish. Millridge Levi is another massive player for Donal O'Mahony.

In other heats, Bonkersinyounkers is selected to get the better of Rathdown Molly. Move To Soon has strong claims for local trainer Kieran Lynch. Jacktavern Bolt and Glengar Martha can battle it out in race nine, while the Graham Holland trained Glory Baz is the pick in race 11.

NON RUNNER 

It was announced earlier this week that Ballymac Marino will not take his chance in the opening heat. Trap 3 will be vacant.
