ELLY BOUNCES BACK TO GO FASTEST AT ENNISCORTHY

Less than four lengths separated the four heat winners of the September Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday evening with honour of posting the fastest time going to Bounceback Elly as she left her debut defeat behind her.

Anthony Kehoe’s daughter of Lenson Bocko and Princess Delilah certainly lived up to her name, bouncing back from that first defeat to make all in Heat 2. Showing fine early dash, she was in charge from the opening yards and proceeded to make all to see of the staying on Elite Tom in 28.96.

JACK COPIES HIS SISTER

Not to be outdone, Fiery Jack, a litter brother to Bounceback Elly won the final heat in similar fashion. Joe Devlin’s charge had to work a little harder for the early lead but, once going to the front into the turn, he eased on to increase his lead throughout. By the winning line, Fiery Jack had five lengths in hand on Roanna Due in 29.03.

AZURITE SHOWS DASH

There was so much to like about the victory of Sean Comerford’s Azurite in Heat 3 as she came from well off the pace to lead in the closing yards.

Ballybreen Chief set a strong gallop only to fade away in the second half, allowing Azurite to justify favouritism.

Moving third down the back straight, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Ballybrack Gem continued to advance before driving the third turn to move second. She was now in full stride but was forced to check wide around the retreating Ballybreen Chief.

Minidonishall was now close to the pace on the inside of the track but Azurite did enough to get the better of that rival by a head in 29.06.

BESTIE TOO GOOD

Trinity Bestie was one of the more impressive opening round winners and she justified odds of 1-4 in the opening heat when between the last two bends before easing clear.

One Twincam again set the pace but faded out of contention. Instead, Sunfire Sydney came through or second. Trinity Bestie was too good, however. Trained by Peter Cronin for Tim Slevin, the daughter of Ballymac Best and Pantone Minnie emerged a four and a half length winner in 29.23.
