JACKTAVERN BOLT THE STAR OF THE SHOW IN THE KASKO DERBY

Just like previous weeks, Jacktavern Bolt delivered another foot-perfect display in the final of the €6,000 to the winner Kasko A1 Derby at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

Trained by Graham Holland for owners the Pillar Syndicate, the 4-6 favourite was making it five straight wins in the event. In truth, the outcome was never in any doubt as the October puppy flew from traps clocking a really impressive 3.18 sectional. Flying down the back straight, Jacktavern Bolt was soon four lengths clear of the Da Gonzo with the rest failing to get involved.

Punters who took the short odds never had a moments worry and it was all about the impressive winner. Da Gonzo ran a huge race in defeat, four and a half lengths down at the line, in 28.26. Strike It Alice displayed her huge finishing speed to grab third, two lengths behind the runner-up. It was a fantastic event over the last couple of weeks and Jacktavern Bolt was the star of the show.

FOUR TIMER FOR GRAHAM HOLLAND

It was the Graham Holland show at Curraheen Park as the champion trainer delivered a fantastic four-timer. 

Swords Rex will be one of the leading fancies in the next week's opening round of the Laurels and the classy tracker impressed in the closing race when winning with plenty to spare, in 28.17. In the ownership of Barbara Lowndes, it was all one-way traffic up front as Swords Rex scored easily.

In the seventh of the night, Rural Taylor made the most of a great draw when winning for Holland and Helen and Emily O'Dwyer. In front early on, the 6-4 favourite went on to beat Millridge Zara, by five lengths, in 28.27. (A0).

A couple of races later, Swords Fudge finished best to win the A1, for Holland and Barbara Lownes. Running on well in the closing stages, the 2-1 shot got the better of Millridge Nadia, by a neck, in 28.73.

IN OTHER RACES

Rosstemple Ley proved far too strong for A4 grade when winning by a wide margin. Owned by Noel and Michelle Barron, the November puppy, a 1-2 shot, ran away from the field early and the impressive winner came home alone, in 28.68.

In the following race, Dunquin Sydney returned to winning ways when getting up in the closing yards to win the A1 contest. In the ownership of the C & C Partnership, the 3-1 shot was always in the mix and he kept finding in the home straight to beat West Cork Lass, by a neck, in 28.66.
