Although just a graded card at Clonmel on Sunday night, it didn’t fail to produce some smart performances, the selection of which being a good double for the kennel of Graham Holland
A difficult kennel to contend with certainly around Clonmel, the champion trained sent out Romeo Kingpin in the S1/S2 300 and he made light work of his opposition as he justified his even money pricetag. Owned by Dave Firmager, the January 22’ whelp was having his four career starts and he duly maintained his 50% strike-rate with a dominant display from traprise. Running from trap three, the well-bred son of Superman and Buckos Lass emerged from a level break as he showed eye-catching early pace to immediately put three lengths between himself and his rivals. Running a terrific bend, Romeo Kingpin doubled his advantage up the home straight as he drew clear of his rivals to stop the clock in a rapid 16.23; a big future is in store for this greyhound.
PINGU DOUBLES UP
Shortly after, the double was completed for the Holland kennel as Riverside Pingu made it back-to-back wins at odds of 1/2.
Running for Rachel Holland, the son of Newinn Taylor and Riverside Honey didn’t get everything his own way early doors as he broke only moderately to sit third at the opener. Arrigle Bess setting the pace out in front, Riverside Pingu quickly excelled down the back and raced to the front at ease to lead around the penultimate turn. Once doing so, it was all on-way traffic for the Holland runner as he stayed on strong to win by five lengths, in a time of 28.65 10s.
TEN NOT OUT FOR DIXIE
In race four, the Emer Dunne owned Emers Dixie took her career tally into double figures as she bounced back from defeat last time out in style.
The 6/4 favourite at the off, Emers Dixie made her intentions clear from the outset as she brought spritely from four to take a comfortable lead into the opener. From here, it was a straightforward night’s work for the daughter of Droopys Jet and Kereight King as she excelled to win by eight and a half lengths crossing the line. The time was a fast 28.84 .10s.
