SCAGLIETTI SOLD AND BOUND FOR HOLLOWAY

It came as quite a shock to some when Scaglietti appeared on the Greyhound Trader on-line auction but it certainly didn’t some as a surprise when he sold for a substantial sum.

A Champion Stakes and Kirby Memorial finalist, he was last seen when running out a brilliant winner of the 575yd finale at Shelbourne Park on Derby final night when picking up Ballinabola Ed.

That run clearly caught the attention of many prospective buyers as the bidding was brisk and he was eventually sold for a whopping stg£45,100. The brilliant son of Magical Bale, who was one of the stars of the early rounds of the Boylesports Irish Derby, is set to join Ricky Holloway and is likely to be campaigned with the English Derby in mind.

Given his strength and ability, he could and should be a star across the water and we wish his new connections the very best of luck with him. One wonders will they be tempted to bring him back to Shelbourne Park for the Winter Racing Festival?
