Da Quiet Syd was the standout performer in the opening round of the Bosco Gleeson Memorial at Newbridge on Friday, coming home clear in a rapid 28.42.
The son of Droopy Sydney was always in complete control as he saw off Mad George by six lengths.
Next fastest was Liam Kirley and Thomas Garry’s Glenlara Blue as he came home five and a half lengths clear of Syds Smurph in 28.65.
Mr Skinny Legs and Innfield Rapid also dipped under 29 seconds. The former led from the turn to win Heat 2 in 28.89, while Innfield Rapid stayed on well, leading from the third turn to win by a length and a half in 28.77. Lively Blake (29.02) and Silverhill Hawk (29.11) won the remaining heats.
