Greyhound racing lost one of its most popular characters today with the news that Paul Scally, Thurles, has passed away peacefully
The man behind the formidable ‘Cabra’ prefix, many top-class trackers have passed through his hands over the years with the likes of Cabra Hurricane, Cabra Buck and Cabra Firmino amongst some of his best. Indeed, an outstanding supporter of his local track Thurles, Paul’s passion for the game has been passed on to his son and daughter, Paddy and Ava, and only last Saturday saw Paddy notch a fine treble, which featured on talking dogs - Thurles - 14th Sept Results
Paul will be sorely missed throughout the Greyhound industry and condolences are extended to his Family and friends at this difficult time -

Paul Scally, Cabra, Thurles and formerly Oscar Terrace, Kickham Street, Thurles. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness bravely borne. Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Rita, sister Bridgie and infant brother Michael. Paul will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, son Paddy, daughter Ava, sisters Maggie, Kathleen, Patsy, Susie and twin-sister Debbie, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, cousins, relatives, greyhound community, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his Residence (E41 DD39) on Friday, 20th September, from 4pm to 7.30pm. Arriving at the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles on Saturday, 21st September, (via Thurles Greyhound Track) at 10.30am for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St Patrick's Cemetery, Thurles.
