Tribal Syd Gets Irish Laurels Off To A Flying Start
Tuono Charlie Continues Purple Patch
The Murt Leahy trained Tribal Syd was the fastest heat winner in the opening round of the Bar One Racing Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.
Trained by Murt Leahy, this versatile son of Droopys Sydney – Myahs Friend produced a 3.28 sectional before going on to win by seven lengths in a rocket time of 28.01. His kennelmate Lemon Mick was second. It was an outstanding start to the competition with the sponsors cutting Syd into the 5/1 favourite from 9/1.
The second fastest heat winner was the 2023 Irish Derby champion The Other Kobe for trainer Graham Holland. He was just one spot off Tribal Syd as he clocked 28.02 wearing the stripes. He won comfortably by eight and a half lengths to course expert Bambis Lady back in second. The Other Kobe is now 7/1 from 14/1.
Other heat winners were Ower Cracker (28.55) and Road Exile (28.26) for trainer Pat Buckley, Droopys Bookem for trainer John A. Linehan (28.62), Crafty Alejandro for Shane Divilly (28.44) and Grangeclare Lady for trainer Owen McKenna (28.42).

Tuono Charlie won his semi-final heat of the Roma Casino Irish Cambridgeshire Open 750 in a blistering time of 40.79 at Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night. That is win number fifteen in a row now for this Sharon Hunt trained superstar so all eyes will be on him in the final this Saturday. Kinturk Road was the other heat winner for trainer Liam Dowling in a time of 41.37.
Track Record
It was a busy night at the Treaty track with That’s It Jack setting a new track record for the 575 yards race in the semi-final of the O’Connor Julian Vets Cashel A2 Tri-Distance. He clocked 30.80 and won by three and a half lengths. He is owned by Liam Cahill, the Tipperary Senior Hurling manager, and Tony Lacey.
Kilcohan Park
The final of Dave Collins Memorial Munster Oaks was won by the Graham Holland trained Hello Rose for owner Liam Mannix at odds of 5/1. The winning time was 29.08 with the 4/6 favourite Deelish Nora finishing second for trainer John F McGee.

Tuono Charlie won his 15th race in a row at Limerick in the Irish Cambridgeshire. There will be some celebrations if he manages to make it win 16 and claim the title!”
