When Almost Bonnie came home in front in the final race at Enniscorthy on Monday night, she provided local handler Davy Morris with his 24th winner of the year.
It was far more significant than that, however. As the daughter of Magical Bale emerged on top over the 575yd trip, she was recording the 600th winner of Morris’ training career.
Morris is a popular figure in his native Wexford and won’t be shy of friends to celebrate his latest milestone. A huge congratulations to a man, who was equally skilled with a hurley in his hand as he is with a greyhound at the end of a lead. Hopefully, there’s another 600 winners on the horizon and a Leinster title on the way for his beloved Wexford hurlers.
