Hackney Tango has long been a talented performer, both under her new name and formerly as Satin Tango, but she produced the run of her career at Dundalk on Saturday night when scorching around in a new track record time of 28.07.
Drawn in four in the Maisie Molloy Perpetual Trophy Open 525, the Michael Taggart trained daughter of Jacob Tashadelek and Satin Abbie was absolutely flawless. Flashing from four, she was in command from the outset and proceeded to draw right away to win by six and a quarter lengths. Drogon was second but this was all about Hackney Tango. Her time was a length (7 spots) inside the five-year record of Swanley Chick.
Remarkably, the Hackney Corner Syndicate owned star was claiming just her second victory outside Cork, where she has won six times. It seems fair to say, we will be seeing more from Hackney Tango in the coming weeks and months with a race of Derby final night likely to be on the agenda, while they may also consider throwing their hat in the ring as regards the Winter Racing Festival. On this latest evidence, she can certainly compete against the best in training.
