BALLYMAC SIUN, for Liam Dowling, went quickest on the clock in the semi-final heats of the Timmy Ward Memorial Stakes at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.
Impressive in the opening round, the 1-2 favourite delivered another fine performance despite not producing her quickest start. Flying down the back straight, the January puppy was in front before the final corner, and she stayed on well to beat Tiermana Hunter, by four lengths, in 28.39. Five lengths back to Daleroad Best in third place.
In the opening semi-final, Daleroad Poppy powered home to win for owners Thomas and John O'Keffe and trainer Patrick Guilfoyle. The 2-1 shot turned handy around the opening corners, and she hit top gear from halfway. Such a powerful running tracker, the impressive winner produced a huge finish to beat Gracies Machine, by eight lengths, in 28.58. A length back in third was Zenith Scorpion.
In the €1,150 to the winner final of the KGOBA Autumn Stakes, it was Champers Mark who came out in front for trainer Wayne Enright. In the ownership of Norma Enright and Maurice Boyle, the 4-1 came away well, soon in front, the early paced winner went on to make all, clocking 29.25, three-quarters of a length clear of Cashout Jose, in 29.25.
In the semi-finals of the Tilemaster Ardert A1 Stakes, Daleorad Devon set the standard when winning for owner Thomas O'Keeffe and trainer Patrick Guilfoyle. The 6-4 shot displayed plenty of pace to win, in 28.66, three and a half lengths clear of Killahan Colin.
In the following heat, Safe Cobra scored for Eileen Gleeson. The 3-1 shot displayed huge early speed to go on and land the spoils, in 29.14, half a length clear of Buckos Belle.
