In a change to their regular Saturday night slot, Thurles hosted an eight race card on Thursday night and Bogger Pat continued his impressive career start with another polished performance.
Just a July puppy, Bogger Pat landed his debut assignment around the tough Kilkenny circuit as he blitzed his rivals to post a hot 29.16 .30s. Indeed, to dip under 29-seconds in estimated terms on your first career start is an early indication that you have a special animal on your hands, however, he was arguably even more impressive last night as he recovered from a tardy start to romp to back-to-back wins.
REALLY EXCITING LITTER
Owned by Liam Peacock, this is a really exciting litter as the son of Glengar Bale and Bogger Ophelia justified his 1/2 billing despite having to settle for third as a result of his poor start from trap two.
Showing brilliant track craft for one so young, ‘Pat’ showed a lovely turn of early speed before coursing around his rivals early on to swoop to the front entering the back straight. In doing so, the talented black quickly drew clear of the field as he set a terrific gallop to the third bend. Now some eight lengths clear rounding the bottom two bends, Bogger Pat never relented as he stormed up the Thurles hill to win by nine lengths, in a slick 29.30 .20s.
One to watch in the weeks to come, one suspects the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial will be next on the agenda for Bogger Pat and don’t be surprised if he goes deep into the Classic.
