The final of the Split The Pot ON1/ON2 525 featured on the Thurles card on Saturday night and despite going down to a debut defeat, it was Born Braver that turned the tables on his rivals to win in serious fashion for the Whens-Hes-Running-Syndicate.
The June 23’ whelp had no answer to Bogger Tommy on debut, however, he clearly learnt alot from that experience as he produced a polished performance to secure victory in much improved fashion.
Installed at odds of 2/1 behind ‘Tommy’ at 6/4, it was in fact litter brother Bogger Bale that set the pace as he pinged out to produce a 1.71 sectional and lead. In doing so, ‘Bale’ showed a lovely turn of early speed to nip around clear of Born Braver, however, the latter soon outpaced his rival entering the back straight to storm past and build a four length lead rounding the penultimate bend. The result was never in doubt at this point as Born Braver, a son of Here Comes Syd and Westpoint Jorgi, never relented on the run for home to cross the line five lengths clear of Bogger Bale in second. The time was a blistering 28.90 on a tracked rated .20 slow and no doubt we will be hearing plenty from this tracker in the coming weeks and months.
