BresBet are pleased to announce their continued sponsorship of 3 prestigious greyhound competitions during 2025:
THE EASTER CUP, THE GYMCRACK AND THE STEEL CITY CUP.
The Easter Cup at Shelbourne Park, Dublin, is the first classic of 2025 and BresBet will be sponsoring it for the fourth consecutive year. Heats begin from Saturday 15th March with the final taking place on Saturday 5th April.
The Gymcrack – one of greyhound racing’s most-historic puppy competitions – will be sponsored by BresBet for the third year running. It takes place at The Owlerton Stadium, Sheffield, with the final on Sunday 20th April.
And in the Autumn, they will be sponsoring The Steel City Cup for a fifth consecutive year. The finals of this historic competition take place on Sunday 19th October, again at The Owlerton Stadium.
Last year, BresBet offered a £10,000 bonus for any greyhound that won both The Gymcrack and The Steel City Cup, something which hadn’t been achieved before. That was until Wicky Ned swept all challengers aside in both competitions, picking up the handsome bonus for his owners. He’s subsequently been nominated for the Greyhound of the Year 2024.
BresBet are offering the same in 2025, as well as two new bonuses.
The first new bonus incentivises young greyhounds of the future. Any of the five losing finalists from The Gymcrack will win a £2,000 bonus if they go on to win The Steel City Cup.
The second new bonus of £10,000, will be awarded if the winner of The Easter Cup goes on to win The Steel City Cup. All the bonuses are open to both UK and Irish greyhounds.
Commenting on the sponsorship deals, BresBet’s head of trading Carl Perry said: “We’re back this year, and our bonuses are bigger and better. The Gymcrack winner will again be eligible for a £10,000 bonus if they win the BresBet Steel City Cup, just like Wicky Ned did last year.”
“But we’re also offering a bonus to all the Gymcrack’s losing finalists, who’ll land a £2,000 bonus if they go on to win the Steel City Cup.”
“We didn’t want to leave out our Irish friends, so we’re offering a £10,000 bonus to the winner of the BresBet Easter Cup if they then
go on to win the BresBet Steel City Cup in October. It’ll be the first time we’ve offered this incentive and hopefully it will encourage the top Irish talent to take up the challenge at Sheffield.”
“For us as a company, we want to see the best dogs lining up in our competitions and we think our bonuses are a great way to make this happen. We’re very proud to support greyhound racing, and the owners and trainers can hopefully benefit from the bonuses. It’s our way of giving a little bit back.”
