Droopys Bundle made a bright start to her career at Newbridge on Friday night, setting the standard in the opening round of the Brownstown Tango & NTSC Open Bitch Unraced Stake.
Representing Robert Gleeson and owner Matthew Derrick, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Droopy Sweet, who is a full sister to Callaway Knegare, may not have been fastest into stride but she charged up the fence, staying tight to the rail, to take control between the opening two bends in the first of the three heats.
There was no doubt thereafter with the promising puppy maintaining a strong gallop to the line. Droopys Bundle would go on to see off Callawayballymac by three lengths in 28.82. Libby was best of the remainder in third, a further length adrift.
PIXI FLIES
Ballinabola Pixi won the second heat in similar fashion, going to the front on the opening bend before making every inch thereafter for Brendan Murphy.
The daughter of Confident Rankin and Dolls On Fire was sent to traps the 1-2 favourite and she duly obliged, going on to see off Pennys Twinkle and Pennys Wildpoppy by three lengths and a length in 29.27.
A LOTTO VICTORY
Lotto Star went fractionally faster in the final heat.
Stopping the clock in 29.26. the Shaun Conway trained daughter of Ballymac Bolger and Shes Made It chased Pennys Anything into the back straight in second before making her move around the last two turns.
Hitting the front before the final bend, the Lotto Express Syndicate owned Lotto Star ran on with real gusto to win by four lengths. Walkabout Pepper also stayed on well to grab second with Pennys Anything eventually finishing a neck down in third.
