One of the great characters of the sport and Derby winning trainer Pat Curtin will be remembered at Mullingar this evening with the start of the 2026 Pat Curtin Memorial.
Six of the eight races are heats of the valuable A4 stake and it seems safe to suggest a number of those on show will improve on their previous efforts.
These include a few of those on show in the second heat. The lightly raced trio of Rosies Flash, Millies Wood, Another Jimjoe and Pretty Rosie have shown promise in their short career and each seem likely to step up on form. Claims can be made for each but slight preference is for Pretty Rosie.
Ballyhoe Merl looks a likely improver in Heat 4. If the David Murray trained youngster improves her starting, she could have too much ammunition for her more exposed rivals.
Paul Hennessy has an interesting runner in the final heat in the form of Supa Mac. He was a runner in the recent Denis Linehan Solicitors open Unraced at Cork and seems certain to improve considerably on previous form. He gets the nod over Obelisk.
The action from Mullingar gets underway at 7.50pm.
