Droopys Crispy and Ballymac Lix were both hugely impressive in the semi-finals of the Brownstown Tango & NTSC Open Unraced Bitch 525 at Newbridge on Friday night with just one hundredth of a second separating the pair on the clock.
Droopys Crispy needed to be at her sharpest in the early yards from a tricky draw in four but that wasn’t a problem for Barry Clancy and Graham Ashe’s star. Flying from traps, she quickly got the length she needed on her rivals to make the turn.
There was traffic in behind her on the turn, leaving Maireads Susie second but the latter failed to contain her litter sister Susies Shadow into the third turn. Droopy Crispy remained clear, however.
Showing no signs of letting up, the daughter of Droopys Addition and Droopys Alyssa ran right to the line to win by seven lengths in 28.59. Susies Shadow was second with Dapper Daffney staying on well to take third, some four lengths further back.
LIX SHOWS SERIOUS DASH
Ballymac Lix won the second heat in very similar fashion for Liam Dowling, showing fine early speed to get loose, avoiding opening and second bend traffic to stretch right away.
The daughter of Ballymac Kingdom and Ballymac Pete was six lengths clear to halfway before her stride began to shorten.
Newline Emma Be emerged as a danger, staying on well from the third turn but Ballymac Lix had enough in hand to hold on for a length verdict in 28.60. Newline Emma Be ran well in third, while Ballymac Allory was three and a half lengths further back in third despite finding traffic on the second turn.
