Fairly Giddy went fastest in the semi-finals of the April Staks at Enniscorthy on Thursday night, securing his place in next week’s €4,000 to the winner decider.
Margaret Stafford’s daughter of Cushie Jet and Sweet Itch was sharper than her rivals, showing fine early sped to make every inch. Misterin Sam initially gave chase but he would run out of steam. Instead, Ashwood News ran on strongly to take second but Fairly Giddy emerged a comfortable length and a half winner in 29.09. Tip Top Bundee would grab third, some three lengths further back.
PANDERATO EMERGES
The second heat turned into a messy affair with Pandereto emerging a surprise winner at 10-1.
Off the pace for much of the way, she would encounter traffic at the third turn much like the remainder of the field but he recovered fastest to lead the field into the home straight. Tommy Woods’ son of Ballymac Wild and Ballymac Petula would come home two lengths clear of Bust The Tins in 29.17. Karlow Blaze was another three and a half lengths away in third.
