GREAT PERFORMANCE IN RCETS APP DECIDER AT GALWAY

There was a brilliant €5,000 on offer for the winner of the RCETS App A3 525 on Saturday night at Galway Greyhound Stadium and it was Great Morning that emerged victorious for owner Mary Clarke.

Just a July 23’ pup, Great Morning was installed as a 5/2 chance heading into the decider as the Gerry Holian-trained Fleeting Moment occupied favouritism at odds of even money. A level break saw Great Morning dispute on the run-up with the improving Brickhill Moana, however, the inside line held by Clarke’s runner proved crucial as he used it to his full advantage in narrowly turning in front. In doing so, there was a domino-effect in behind as Rinnwood Duke bumped Brickhill Moana, which in turn ended her chances of claiming the silverware. At this point, Great Morning was joined by Nice Jazz out wide, while Fleeting Moment was now beginning to motor at the midway point and looked a threat to all in doing so. That said, Great Morning continued to assert at the head of proceedings and the penultimate bend came just in time for the son of Coolavanny Hoffa and Dapper Daisy as he continued to hold Nice Jazz by the narrowest of margins. All to play for on the run for home, Great Morning found a second wind up the hill as he opened a one and a half length gap to score in 29.19 .10s. Nice Jazz ran his heart out to finish second, while Fleeting Moment claimed the bronze back in third.

    GOMEZ LANDS NOVICE DECIDER

Prior to that, the final of the €900 to the winner Galway Stadium ON2/ON3 525 went on offer and this was landed by Paradise Gomez.

Owned by Sean Meade, Paradise Gomez went to traps as the 5/4 second favourite behind the 4/6 jolly Frenchfort Queen but this was all one-way traffic as ‘Gomez’ made his intentions clear from the outset. Quickest into stride from trap four, the son of Ice On Fire and Paradise Asia never saw another rival as he galloped to a two and a half length success over Frenchford Queen in second. The time was a brisk 29.17 .10s.
