A year after capturing the Maiden Derby at Towcester, it seems Paul Hennessy is targeting the valuable competition once again with the Gowran based handler set to trial four greyhounds at the Northamptonshire venue on Wednesday.
Hennessy steered three greyhounds to final in 2024, winning it with Jaytee Etienne and he is set to send another strong team this year.
The competition commences on April 6th and Irish trained greyhounds that have not won in AA0 company are eligible to take their chance. Of the Hennessy quartet trialing on Wednesday, only two are eligible for the Maiden Derby. They are his Juvenile Derby finalist Hello Diego and impressive Winter Racing Festival stake winner Lennies Desire.
Both are hugely fast and could have a big say in the competition if taking to Towcester. For the record, Hennessy is also set to trial Barefoot On Fire and Boylesports Blue, perhaps with an English Derby challenge in mind.
