The final of the Limerick & Clare GOBA A3 525 served as the highlight at Limerick Stadium on Saturday night and it went largely to script as Kevinsfort Trump completed a clean sweep throughout the stake, in turn registering a fourth successive victory on the spin.
A September 2024 pup, Kevinsfort Trump came into the €2,000 stake with two wins from just three starts and looked a likely winner after round one when coming from behind to post a brisk 28.81. Just seven days later, however, he really announced himself for owner Peadar Kinane. Quickest into stride from trap three, the Paraic Campion-trained tracker romped to an eight-length success in 28.51, fully justifying his price of 4/5 ahead of the decider. Again donning the white jacket in the final, the contest proved a sterner test for ‘Trump’, who was forced to pull out all the stops, though in truth he never looked under serious threat of being reeled in. Fastest into stride, the son of Ballymac Cashout and Kevinsfort Tiger dictated the early exchanges and just edged around clear of both Rossa Benz in one and Cherryfour Grove in five. Holding a three-length advantage entering the back straight, Rossa Benz quickly improved into second and set off in pursuit of Campion’s charge up front. However, despite closing the gap, Kevinsfort Trump showed admirable determination to maintain his momentum before fending off his rival close home. A length separated the pair at the line, with the winner stopping the clock in a fast 28.54 on a track rated 10 fast on the night.
HUNTER BACK TO HIS BEST IN BRAKES SEMIS
The supporting card saw the semi finals of the Limerick Brakes A1 550 feature and Tiermana Hunter returned to his best form to go quickest in the opening semi.
Trained by Colm Fitzgerald for the Supping-Away-Syndicate, Tiermana Hunter has mixed it with some top trackers in recent months and the 2025 Ann Cheevers Memorial winner showed big signs of a resurgence after a polished performance last night. Sent off at odds of 5/1, ‘Hunter’ donned the blue jacket and was much sharper into stride this time around, posting a 2.89 sectional to lead. In doing so, the son of Ballyhimikin Jet - Tiermana Jetty was asked plenty of questions by Made To Measure, however, kept night in reserve to cross the line with one length to spare. The time was 29.76 .10f.
In the second semi final, A Charda (Orchestrate - Highview Moment) built on his brilliant opening round second with another impressive performance for Vincent McKenna and the Charda-Gael-Syndicate. No match for Tubber Ace last time out, A Charda clearly took plenty from that outing and despite a poor start from four, he nestled into a good position to sit a close third entering the back. From there, the even money chance motored to the front at the penultimate bend before fending off the gallant Kevinsfort Hardy in second. The time was 29.95 .10f
