A glance at the recent card of La Pepinillo will tell you all you need to know about his current well-being with racecard comments on each of his last five victories reading, fast away, always led.

The latest of those five wins happened to come in the final of the Guys And Dolls A2 at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night as the son of Ballymac Bolger and Coolavanny Chick produced yet another flawless display to emerge a ready and most deserving winner for Roy Ball, Trevor Pearson and handler Michael Corr.

Sent top traps the 4-9 favourite after easy wins in each of his three preliminary round appearances, La Pepinillo soon set about justifying those odds. Breaking in front, he would quickly assert to enter the back straight in total command. Town Kitten emerged from the pack as the nearest rival to the favourite but couldn’t land a blow.

Maintaining a powerful gallop all the way to the finish, La Pepinillo would go on to hit the line seven lengths clear of Town Kitten in a rapid 28.40. Chelsea Pat would eventually finish third, some five lengths further adrift.

    ROSETTA STONE GETS LOOSE

Earlier in the evening, Laurence Jones’ Rosetta Stone (Droopys Sydney/ Blossoms Pet) made full use of an ideal draw on the fence to win the final of the Bet With The Tote A2 Bitch 525.

Forcing her way through on the corner, pushing Blackheath Ellen out of her way, Rosetta Stone entered the back straight with a two length advantage.

Cayan Lady did fly from the second turn to pick her way through the pack and move second in the closing yards but Rosetta Stone would hold on to win by three parts of a length in 29.24.
