LABANA CODY (Droopys Sydney-Homegrown Honey) came out on top in the €4,000 to the winner A1 Astra Stakes Final at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.
Batt O’Shea’s 4-1 winner exploded from trap 5 to sail around the opening corners in front. Flying down the back straight in front, the impressive winner always looked in total control. Staying on well up front, Labana Cody came home two and a half lengths clear of Daleroad Best, in 28.39.
Daleroad Mya went quickest in the semi finals of the the A2 Dutch Connection Stakes. Trained by Patrick Guilfoyle for Thomas O’Keeffe, the well fancied 10-11 favourite displayed big early speed to lead and from there, the race was always in safe keeping. A 29.81 winning run, five lengths clear of Millridge Lily.
In the second semi final, Steeple Rd Ben scored for Dan Wren. The 2-1 winner powered home to beat Jim The Tailor, by three lengths, in 30.26.
In the third and final semi final, Kilmoyley Sonny ran out a fine winner. A really nice front running winning run, clocking 30.29, at odds of 2-1 and coming home three lengths clear of Lissycasey Liam.
