The semi finals of the €5,000 to the winner RCETS A3 525 served as the highlight on last night’s card at Galway Greyhound Stadium and Brickhill Moana went quickest as she doubled down on a fine performance one-week prior.
Jointly owned by John Collins and Albert Long, Brickhill Moana came from off-the-pace to score in the opening round and she showed a different thread to her bow last night with an electric start from traps. As a result, the 5/4 second favourite took a commanding lead into the back from the even money favourite Great Morning and in truth, the leader extended her advantage at the midway point to never look under any threat. Showing brilliant stamina in the closing stages, the daughter of Ballymac Bolger and Twentylittletoes was thoroughly impressive as she crossed the line four and a half lengths clear of Great Morning in second. The time was 29.06 .10s as Lallys Legacy also ensured his place in the decider finishing a further six and a half lengths back in third.
UNBEATEN MOMENT
The second semi final went more to script as the Gerry Holian-trained Fleeting Moment made it four wins from as many starts with a convincing victory for the Dream-Catchers-Syndicate.
Running from trap one, the March whelp took charge late on last time out, however, he too benefited from a slicker exit to lead early on. Despite not handling the opening bend too fluently, the son of Coolavanny Calvn and Fleeting Angel opened a sizable down the back and he proved too hot to handle in finishing five and a half lengths clear of Rinnwood Duke in second. The time was 29.14 .10s as Nice Jazz secured the third-place qualification.
LITTER TREBLE FOR TWENTYLITTLETOES
Prior to that, there was a nice double on the card for the kennel of Kevin Marmion and Brian Johnson as both Frenchford Madam and Frenchford Queen prevailed, while ensuring a litter treble from the Ballymac Bolger and Twentylittletoes litter.
It was ‘Madam’ that scored first in the curtain raiser as she finished well to win on debut. Drawn in three, the 6/4 chance was slowly into stride early doors and had plenty of work on her plate at the halfway mark as she sat some five lengths adrift of the leader. Picking her spots well around the bottom two bends, the debutant finally secured a clear passage at the business end and she came through strongly to secure a two length win. The time was 30.08 .10s.
Shortly after, Frenchford Queen made it two wins from as many starts in the semi final of the ON2/ON3 525. Installed as the hot 4/7 favourite, ‘Queen’ was forced to play second fiddle behind Ballygibbon Ted early on, however, quickly asserted down the back to lead. In doing so, she opened a sizable advantage over Ballygibbon Lass to cross the line seven lengths too strong. The time was 29.78 .10s.
