PEADAR WOODS

Greyhound racing lost another stalwart of the game over the weekend as Newry-based Peader Woods passed away peacefully on Sunday.

One of the founding members of the Newry Greyhound Owners and Breeders Association (GOBA), Peadar was an integral part of the Northern racing scene and was also a very talented handler in his own right. Peadar was long associated with the ‘Maytown’ greyhounds and in recent times, Maytown Eclipse reached the final of the richest Juvenile Classic in the world, the 2006 Con & Annie Kirby Memorial at Limerick greyhound stadium. Peadar will be sorely missed by his many friends across the greyhound community and deepest sympathies are offered to those close to him at a very difficult time.
