PEER ALSO BUILT A FAMOUS SEQUENCE

On the hunt for further notable sequences, an email from Denis Kelleher reminded us of the achievements of the brilliant Mountleader Peer.

Trained by the late legendary Christy O’Callaghan, the immensely talented son of Tapwatcher won thirteen races in a row back in 1996.

Along the way the flying brindle captured the Champion Stakes before continuing his unbeaten ways through the early rounds of the Derby. The sequence ended in the semi-finals of the Derby when picked up late by Sir Grand and Spiral Nikita. A week later he could go onto make almost every inch in the Derby final, only to be picked up in the final strides by Tina Marina. Mountleader Peer would later be named Dog of the Year.

When you consider the names we have already mentioned in these pieces about winning sequences, it highlights the achievements of Tuono Charlie as he seeks his sixteenth straight success at Limerick in the Roma Casino Irish Cambridgeshire on Saturday night.

If you can think of any more notable winning sequences, don’t hesitate to get in touch at news@grireland.ie.
