PIMPLE FASTEST IN ENNISCORTHY UNRACED

It was somewhat predictable that Kereight Pimple would improve on his opening round effort in the second round of the TIME Greyhound Nutrition Open Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday night.

Aidan Denton’s well-bred son of Broadstrand Bono and Right So Belle didn’t have things all his own way, however.

In fact, the October ’22 whelp had to show fine pace and determination to overcome some sticky rivals. Kick On Kat went up fastest from five, keeping Kereight Pimple wide. Taking a bump in the process, Kereight Pimple lost his prominent pitch. A second bump at the second turn saw him fall back to fourth but he soon recovered.

By this point Crossfield Lunar had gone to the front but Kereight Pimple was soon in full stride and he flew into the third turn to move second. Maintaining his momentum, he shot pace the pace-setter between the last two turns.

Despite steering a middle path, Kereight Pimple would stay on well to emerge a four-length winner in 29.28. Crossfield Lunar was second with Jacktavern Tiger another length and a half away in third. The manner of success for Kereight Pimple would suggest he will still go far faster in the near future and he will be a likely hot favourite in the final especially after fastest opening round scorer Mayflower Sienna went out in the other heat.

LOLA TAKES HER CHANCE IN STYLE

Mayflower Sienna was a 1-2 chance to come home in front in the opening semi-final but she fluffed her lines.

After a moderate start, she paced up well but found herself with no room to race and was a bad fifth into the back straight.

In contrast, Foxy Lola stayed wide of the pace to move second into the back straight before pouncing after halfway. De Ferryman was in front at this point but had no answer to Foxy Lola. Cora Doyle and Pat McMahon’s daughter of Dromana Bucko and Flying Lola quickly moved on to see off Barnfield James by two lengths in 29.47. De Ferryman was best of the remainder in third, some two and as half lengths further back.
