STERLING SOARS ON DEBUT AT ENNISCORTHY

    Untold Sterling is the latest in a long line of potential superstars to debut at Enniscorthy.

    The son of Dromana Bucko and Droopys Zero was nothing short of brilliant on Monday night as he went many lengths faster than the nearest qualifier in the opening round of the WGOBA Open Unraced Stake.

    Owned by the Untold Racing Syndicate, the September whelp left those in the stands rubbing their eyes as he posted a sizzling 28.58. It was a massive display from the youngster, showing huge pace into the turn after a slow start in the stripes, he would move second behind the pace-setter Four Over.

    He carried his momentum into the back straight and flew down the back straight to assert on the third turn. It was a display of real pace and power from the youngster as he piled on the pressure for the remainder to eventually win by an ever-widening seven lengths from Four Over in a sizzling 28.58. As impressive as the run was, he left the impression that he will go faster in the near future. He is a young greyhound with unlimited potential.

    LUNA IMPRESSES

    To highlight the outstanding nature of the run from Untold Sterling, the next fastest run came in Heat 2 as Bounceback Luna overcame early traffic to lead late.

    Anthony Kehoe’s son of Grangeview Ten and Mystical Luna was never too far off the pace before staying on best to beat Mutts Maximus by a length and a half in 29.03.

    CHOPIN PLAYS A SWEET MELODY

    Badminton Chopin (Ballyhimikin Jet/ Badminton Razl) produced a very similar display to win Heat 3 for Donal Murphy and David McGrath.

    He would turn econ despite a slow start before coming through to win by three parts of a length from Robertstown Cruz in 29.27.

    BUCKLEY AND LYNCH ON THE DOUBLE

    Pat Buckley and Michael Lynch had a double with litter brothers Sallagh Curly and Sallagh Larry coming out on top in Heat 5 and 6 respectively.

    The former stayed on well to score despite swinging wide off the final turn. The well bred son of Deerjet Sydney and Mydras Dawn would take the honours by a length from Boderan Ace in 29.19. 

    Sallagh Larry would overcome traffic to lead in the second half of the final heat. He would eventually cross the line two and a half lengths clear of Monbeg Bella in 29.47.

    TOM DASHES TO GLORY

    Later on the card, Dashing Tom justified odds-on favouritism to capture the final of the Timeclub @ Enniscorthy Greyhound Stadium A5 525.

    In front early for Myles Roban and owner Thomas Power, the son of Malachi and Roanna Bess would emerge a pretty comfortable winner by three and a half lengths from White Gem in 28.87.
