The latest student night at Shelbourne Park was an undoubted success with the revelers really getting to the spirit.

Certainly, the atmosphere on Tuesday night was a bit special with clear message from the terraces being “There’s only one Troy Parrott”.

Aside from the plaudits for the hero from Sherrif Street, there was also great appreciation for those on the track. The semi-finals of the November Monthly Novice ON2 525 were the feature and Highview Carol and Greenmount Hawk both impressed in their respective heats.

CAROL TOO STRONG

Highview Carol had a great battle to the third turn with Blow Out and Real Gone Kid before asserting from the final turn.

Representing the team of Gerry and Dolores Merriman, the daughter of Orchestrate and Highview Moment raced right away to win by five and a half lengths in 28.79. Blow Out was second with Real Gone Kid a length away in third.

HAWK SWOOPS AT THIRD TURN

Colin Ingram’s Greenmount Hawk reversed opening round form with Unassuming in the second heat. Duffin Dermy set the pace after a fast start but Greenmount Hawk was always on the case in second. The Owen McKenna trained son of Lenson Bocko and For One Moment shot to the front on the third turn to see off the staying on Unassuming by two and a half lengths in 28.73.
