Denis O’Donoghue’s Snazzy Cinnamon made the most of an ideal draw on the fence to land the Eamon Wheatley Memorial at Newbridge on Friday night.

Known as a big finisher, the writing was on the wall when the daughter of Pat C Sabbath and Hollywell Samba turned close to the pace in third. breaking smartly, she held her pitch to slip around behind her litter sister and kennel companion Snazzy Lee. Home Darragh also challenged at this point but neither could contain Snazzy Cinnamon.

Showing pace into the third turn, she joined the leaders at this point before edging on. Once doing so, she was always going to land the €2,700 prize. Maintaining a powerful gallop to the line, Snazzy Cinnamon emerged a three and a half length scorer over the staying on favourite Mylerstown Nell in 29.00. Snazzy Lee finished third to provide Denis O’Donoghue with a first and third in the valuable stake.
