There were a number of noteworthy displays at Shelbourne Park on Friday night including that of Lincoln Symphony in the final of the Upcoming Sweepstakes A3 525.

Prominent in the early yards, the son of Magical Bale and Minor Droopy moved on at the turn and proceeded to put the result beyond any doubt. Pat McGhee’s youngster would eventually coast home four lengths clear of Lockstep in a quick 28.52.

    EXCITING MAGICAL IS ON FIRE

However, the most notable display was from racing debutant Magical On Fire as she posted a sensational 28.23.

Pat Guilfoyle’s daughter of Ballymac Cashout and Burgess Sarah was dominant in her semi-final of the Upcoming Puppy Oaks ON2 Bitch 525.

Flashing from traps, she was always in complete control before running out a hugely impressive eight and a half length scorer over Annadown Ellie. Magical On Fire is clearly a very special prospect and all eyes will be on her when she reappears in next week’s final.

The other heat saw her litter sister Scarlet Ella get up in the closing yards to complete a double for Pat Guilfoyle. Owned by Alice Guilfoyle and Thomas Ryan, the September ’23 whelp saw off Pom Pom by a neck in 29.16. She will go considerably faster in the near future.

    MINT LOOKS A REAL PROSPECT

There was also a hugely promising run from Ballymac Mint on debut as she led home another eye-catcher Braveheart Bambi in 28.49.

Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Mint was second in the early yards before moving past the fast starting Champagne Gal down the back straight.

Once doing so, the supremely well-bred daughter of Ballymac Best and Ballymac Ariel eased on to record a rapid 28.49, seeing off the staying on Braveheart Bambi by three and a half lengths.

    CASH AND TALKIN SCORE

The two heats of the Puppy Oaks Starts In April ON2/ON3 Bitch 525 went the way of Mad For Cash and Now Yer Talkin.

Brian O’Neill’s Mad For Cash was second in the early yards before charging to the front down the back straight. Once doing so, the Damian Maginn trained daughter of Ballymac Cashout and Work Your Head easing on to see off Pauls Pick by six and a half lengths in 29.00.

Tara Bates and Joe Ivory sent out Now Yer Talkin to make every inch in the second heat. The daughter of Ballymac Cashout and Slippery Diva flashed from boxes and was always holding the persistent challenge of Ardnasool Stark. There was a length between the pair on the line in 29.12.
